For the budge minded, or the scout project idears... a storage bin raft made from simple supplies. Maybe not keep up with the powersquad, and if you river has any rapids, might rethink. But it's kinda cool.
Think Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer catfishing, and you'll be in the right mindset.
