Headed to the Gorge with the family for some of these tasty fish. It has been a great year for them. We launched at Buckboard it started out kind of slow and there wasn't that many people around so we headed south toward Squaw Hollow. There were so many boats there we just had to see what the fuss was about. We started catching them immediately One of the poles acted like I had a bite but the downrigger clip didn't release. After a few I decided I better check it and there was a fish on but it was just solid and wouldn't not come up. My daughter was reeling it in and couldn't lift it and I had to help her support the pole. I was sure she had tied into another mac (she caught one earlier) not sure why it didn't come out of the clip by itself since it pulled out fairly easy with the pole? Anyway I shut the electric of and put it on anchor so she could fight the fish and we still had to lines down and I pushed the button for the ball to come up. All the sudden it got light another rod released my wife grabbed that pole. The dodger rig of that pole came up tangled in the down rigger a really nice koke was on my daughters line and it was a tangle. Got the fish in and the tangle fixed came off anchor and started moving and the 3rd pole released and my son reeled in a nice pink one. I started getting lines out and the first line no longer got down and bam another fish two yanks and it was off! I reeled in the line and all my stuff was gone it was the pole that got tangled and it must have damaged the line (I should have checked it closer) anyway we made a turn and headed back and noticed a fish acting funny on the surface it was a koke still toting my dodger around we chased him around with the electric and netted him! All this playing bumper boats like I have never seen. My son also caught our new boat record koke 4.2 lbs a record his little sister has kept all summer!
