I've been trying to catch some smallmouths in a nearby stream. I wouldn't mind largemouths though.
A month ago I was told the smallmouths are in deep pools. I go out to the stream with the intention of wading to find the pools. Invariably I start practicing my cast, how to get a fly to a certain spot, how to get a good drift, or to do a proper retrieve. The result being I don't get very far and don't find the deep pools.
I was wondering, as the weather and the water start to cool now, will the bass tend to move into shallower water?
Thanks
Harry
