Not much experience at CJ myself, was going to try and see if I might catch me a few of those smallies.
Any suggestion or help on where to start and what I might try out of the tackle box would be greatly appreciated, and yes I plan on catch n release

SMB's have been a little hard for me to come by this fall. They don't seem to be in the location that I normally catch them. The perch and crappie fishing is good in the narrows. Look for the boats. Sorry but I cannot help you with the SMB's.

Same for me. Lots of fish, but it seems like the bigger ones are missing. Hope they aren't in someone's freezer getting burn. Maybe they'll get mercury sick. Y'all know it causes your stiffer to not peck up.

Went out Friday, started looking for the smallies but wasn't able to locate them .... so I started fishing for perch just to have something to do ..... and to say the fishing was excellent would be an understatement. I fished in the narrows and the perch were lighting up the screen. I fished for about an hour and no doubt I boated 50 perch and let all but a couple go (bait).
After an hour of that I got bored with it so went back to finding the small mouth, and did good on them as well, a couple in the 2.5+ range and a few smaller, let them all go for next time ...... crawdad color plastics
