We hit the trail to Oregon again this year, and once more it didn't disappoint us. The fall Chinook were in the river system, the Black Bass were plentiful and the crabs were delicious.

Nice Chinook CarDell, any idea what they weighed?. Looks like a fun trip, weren't you telling me about doing some tuna fishing while you were there?

Great trip! I am drooling just looking at those fish.
I am curious about the weight as well.

[#484848]I'm not sure as we did not weigh them. Our guide indicated that the big one was around 35 lbs. and the smaller one was about 5 lbs. lighter. I do know that the fillets were over 2 in. thick. [/#484848]
[#484848]We had a good time. We rented a beach house which is much cheaper than a motel. Between the ice cream at the Tillamook cheese factory, and the meals at the Fish Peddler oyster house, I'm not posting my current weight either.[/#484848]

We did the Albacore last year. We were talking about going after the big Ling Cod, but we would have to have gone out after Oct 1st, as that is the first day that they can go in over 40 fathoms of water. That is the day we were Chinook fishing, and a couple of the guys had to get back for a hunt.
The boats that went after the big lings on the 1st were coming in with 42" fish, and lots of them.....Ugly Buggers.

Oh, I remember you saying that after the 1st of Oct you could fish in deeper water but I thought it was for tuna, my mistake. I know the ling cod I caught looked very much like the burbot in the Gorge.
