UDWR needs help with gill netting at Bear Lake Oct. 20,21,22 and 23
#1
**This counts as "dedicated hunter" hours or you can simply volunteer

What: Gill net sampling help needed
When: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. October 20, 21, 22 and 23
Where: Bear Lake State Park Marina
Who: Contact Scott Tolentino at scotttolentino@utah.gov OR 435-946-8501 and leave message
Why: Fall gill net sampling on Bear Lake to determine fish population structure, fish composition, diets, depths, maturity, age, etc.
Other: Bring warm clothes, waterproof shoes/boots, and a lunch. UDWR will provide rain bibs to keep most of the slime off! We will leave from the Utah State Park marina each morning at 08:00am and should be off the water by noon. Then we will process fish for another 1-2 hours. Two dedicated hunters/volunteers per day max.

Thanks for posting this, I got my name on the list. Sounds like a fascinating way to spend the day, and I would like to understand the fish in big blue a little better.

It is time well spent, I did it a few years back and it was a great learning experience, especially if Scott lets you count the rings on the inner ears of the fish.[cool]

My brother and I would be interested if it didn't over lap with the rifle deer hunt. We both need our dedicated hunter hours, Just kinda bad timing for dedicated hunters with unfilled tags.

Are you Aaron or Sean? Just making sure I've got the right person down for Monday. Thanks.

I am Sean. I am guessing if you only need to narrow it down to two names you have plenty of spots still open. I wonder if it would help fill spots if you could post what specific days still need people?
