big sandwash??
#1
Well i was hoping to get down to jordenelle or deek creek on my last days off but that didnt happen as i had to work them. Now im off for a couple of days and was looking on the maps and online and see a reservior called big sandwash down towards Roosevelt.

Has anyone been there lately if so you could possibly share some info on if launching a small 14' alum boat on a trailer would be possible? and how the fishing has been or might be for bass. large or smallmouth i love to fish for them but its getting colder and closer the the hardwater so not sure how it might be for chasing those fish at this time of the year. i see theres perch in there to. looks like a new lake that might be fun to try out but its a long drive it looks like. any help would be great Thank you and good luck fishing

Sorry Jim, I can't give you any first hand info and I don't know how old this info is, hopefully it will answer some of your questions.

Haven't heard from you for awhile hope everything is going well for you and the family. We will be parking our 5th wheel up at the Gorge next summer, we'll have to get together and do some fishing up there. May see you on the hard deck this winter we haven't ice fished Pelican since we last saw you down there.

They have a paved ramp that should be usable unless the water is extremely low.

Hey Jim. I haven't fished it for a couple years now, but there is a concrete boat ramp at the access on the east side. The lake is about half full. You would have no problems launching. I would expect fishing for trout to be good there right now. Water temps are probably getting a little to cool now to expect much bass action.

I fished it about a month ago and the water level was down about 30' from being full and the water temperature was 62-63 degrees. There was still plenty of ramp to launch a boat and there was still water over 45' deep. I only caught four fish in four hours, all largemouth bass but I was using fly tackle. The fish were small, between 7" - 13" long. The fish were all caught in fairly close to shore.

Good Luck if you go.

Hey Guys thank you for the information sorry for the late reply I got down to pelican lake turn off and decided to try it as it was later than i wanted to have been getting down there. I got on pelican lake its really low maybe 2' deep out of the boat ramp for a long ways and only 8 to maybe 9' deep in one spot. the fishing was slow but thats the way it is this time of the year it seems like for bass but i did many a few small bass and some bluegills.

the water is really low right now and didnt graph alot of fish but it will soon be the hard deck setting in and I will be back for sure to catch some more bass and bluegills. maybe i can meet up with you guys sometime and catch some fish on the ice somewhere on that side of the mountains
thank you for all the info on big sandwash if i get back down there i will let you know how i do for sure
