Dad was kind to let me and my wife borrow the boat for a little while today. They fished off the bank while we used the boat for a few hrs then we turned the boat back over to them.

Fished below watts bar dam...in the tail waters.

We basically were just going for anything to pull on our line for a little bit. Trolling crankbaits. I know...I know...some of you guys don't like trollers but hey...it works and is just as fun to me.

First pull....hook up on a drum and a smaller largemouth. Thought we were gonna have a good day but....all we got was rocks for a while. We were gonna call it quits early until we saw a few fish breaking at the arrival point. Went to check those out and got into the white bass really well via throwing spinners. How many we caught...I honestly have no idea. You'd reel one in and there'd be 4 or 5 more follow it all the way to the boat. They were hitting fast and furious. We caught them til we got tired of catching them and went for bigger fish trolling again. Wife caught a nice largemouth...around 3 lbs. And I hooked into something big....fought it for a little bit and could feel it shaking its head really well. Didn't feel like a catfish. Not sure what it was and will never know because it came off without ever seeing it. Probably was a big drum.

Made our way back and fished for the white bass again. Us and a pontoon boat had fun with them for a good while. The pontoon boat was doing something I had never seen before but was quite effective. They were doing circles with their outboard....they would do a big circle around where the fish were breaking and it kept those shad and white bass on top and corralled in an area about the size of a football field. I had never been in a break that lasted as long as they had them going...we both were benefiting from it and catching fish as fast as you could unhook one to throw in and catch another. It was all good until our frenzy caught the attention of some bottom feeder anglers who promptly ran up there right between us and sat their boats down right in the middle of the breaks and cut us and the pontoon boat off from doing the chase/circle we had been doing. I figured it was time to go at that point.

Not sure how dad and mom did after they took over with the boat. They are probably still on the lake.
