Lake Powell help
#1
I'm heading to Paige for Thanksgiving, and thought I'd give catching a striper a shot. I've never fished powell before, and I only have a 9 ft pontoon with a trolling motor to get around. One striper of any size would make a great trip. Is there a decent spot this time of year to go after stripers with a pontoon? I've been reading articles on Wayne's Word and leaning a lot of good info on how to fish for them. Any info at all would be a great help from those willing to share. Thanks, and here's to catching more fish.

I have had a lot of luck at the fishing dock at wah weep at night around that time of year..caught some decent fish just chumming ancovies under the light's. I would think that a pontoon could do well around the tires and you could maybe launch at Stateline and hit lone rock. I am pretty sure if you put in the time, you'll find a few. Ask where they're hitting around the marina, most are more than willing to put you on the fish. Have fun...hope it goes well!

Wayne will be doing the annual fall sampling in Wahweap next week. I would suggest that you wait until next week, then send Wayne an email, or post a question on Wayne's Words, and ask him about fishing in the Wahweap Bay from your pontoon.

With a pontoon, I think I would head to Lone Rock beach and launch from the beach in my pontoon and fish around Lone Rock. This is a great time of year to be fishing -- I would think you could get into some fish.

RC -- I just read a report on Wayne's Words about catching stripers at Lone Rock this week.

I think you could have a real ball from your pontoon casting and trolling around from Lone Rock beach....
