As of Sunday Jan. 4th The open water froze over. It's approx. 4 inches thick north of twin creek, two hundred yards out. Don't know how thick the ice is on the clear ice. South end is 6 inches thick. With excellant fishing at the moss line. Jig with millworms, nightcrawlers, or perch meat. I haven't seen no atv or snow mobiles on the ice as of sunday. Lookin' forward to seeing B.F.T. members before, and on the 21st of Feb. I fish out of lake side which is the south end on the moss line and deeper. Look for me. I got lucky and got a new tent. The Eskimo Caravan. Come by and say hello anytime. Hook Em' and Cook Em' The pikeman.

Hey sounds good pikeman, in your earlier fish lake party post you mentioned that the record splake and mack had been caught with a chub minnow, do you know if anybody up there has tried them, if so have they had any success?

A lot of the fishing on Fish Lake for larger fish is done the old way, from a board. All through the summer you can find the old timers trolling from boards along well established patterns for the monsters. Most of the larger fish I have heard of being caught there were by this method. I do not have any info on it, but I would imagine that the lake records would have been caught this way, especially if they were caught on a chub minnow. Can you verify this Pikeman? I have never tried the board method, but it looks like a very challenging way to catch a fish.

The record splake was caught from shore using a minnow or chub; I don't know about the lake trout.
I was at Fish Lake over New Year's...we fished near the Lodge with perch meat and caught lots of splake and a few bows...we did see a few people taking snow machines and four-wheelers out on the ice near the Lakeside Marina. There is tons of snow up there; more than i have seen in a long time. If you plan on using a machine on the ice, be careful of slush...with all the extra snow, I bet there will soon be some slushy areas.
I will be back up on the lake this weekend...i will try to post a report when I get back.
