Anyone that has fished Starvation recently or driven by can you report on the thickness of the ice or have you seen anybody out ice fishing?
I am thinking of hitting the state park area or Indian bay. It sounds like from another post that the bridge area has 4 to 5 inches of ice.... For those who know starvation well, if the bridge area has safe ice, does the marina area/indian bay generally have safe ice then as well?
Thanks

I fished Starvation saturday and the ice was 5-6 inches thick and clear solid ice. We fished south of the bridge. We have had plenty of cold temps so I am sure the ice is still safe. The only open water is in rabbit gulch. We were the only ones on the lake on saturday.

How deep were you as well is there tons of snow covering up the rocks while going down hill to the bridge?

We don't know what snow is out here[:p]. I'm surprised we have as much water in the lakes as we do. I actually had to carry my gear to a different lake last weekend cuz I didn't want to trash my sled on the bare rocks. It hasn't been all that cold for the Basin this year either. Only been below 0 a couple of times. At least the water is frozen.

No snow anywhere around the lake. I just carried my stuff off the hill. The ice is like glass, could be and ice skating rink. We fished in 20 FOW all the way to 60.

There is now a couple inches of snow on the ice from yesterdays' storm. It's been sunny most of today (Wed.) so there is likely not much if any snow left on the hill going down from the bridge.
I have not ventured on to the Starvy ice but, I have seen evidence of people fishing south of Indian Bay and to the northeast of the main State Park boat ramp.
