Quantum Smoke
#1
Yesterday I saw that Cabelas had their quantum smoke spinning reels on sale for 100 dollars and without much thought I went ahead and bought one, Now I am having second thoughts. Has any one had any experience with these reels and what are your opinions.

Thanks

My daughter has one on one of her Shimano rods. Personally... I like it more than the 3-4 Shimano CI4s we have. IMO it is smoother. The drag is also really nice. Also very sensitive. It doesn't take much to go from not enough drag to enough to drag in a 20lb fish so be easy on the drag. The only thing that kills me about it. No reverse. Totally locked out. No switch, etc. Just not there. Depending on what one is using it for it is a lower gear ratio reel than many. She uses it for medium depth cranks bass fishing and I bought it specifically for the gear ratio. Slower retrieve than the CI4s.

(Smoke 5.2:1 / Shimano CI4 6.0:1)

$100???? [shocked]

I should have waited![pirate]

I've got one. It's sweet. I don't even mind the lack of a reverse gear. This way, your reel will never fail on a hook set, no matter how cold it gets. That's a problem I've had with other reels.

It's a really nice reel. I've never had a "nice" one, so I find myself being very careful when I set it down. Don't want to rough it up just yet.

So smooth and it just feels solid.

...Not to mention it just looks sexy.

I've always been a Quantum guy. Smokes look very solid, albeit a tad heavy. I tried a new brand this time, and have been very pleased.
Those Quantum EXOs sure teased me. Those look COOL! Found a Revo Supreme at a super deal though and had to jump on it.

A little off topic but I remember my first "nice" reel. Really changed my whole look on fishing gear... I think it would be impossible for me to go back to some of the cheaper equipment.

You get what you pay for and if you do your research (never been easier with the internet) you can find something at a good price and know it is a winner that will last for years!

You got a steal at $100. I think I paid like $160 last year, I love my Smoke. I use it for swimbaits and dropshots. It is super smooth. Quantum also has been good to work for as far as Customer Service is concerned. You wont be disappointed.

I have two of them on Shimano rods. I haven't fished them much, but they are very good reels in my opinion and they also look good and feel ergonomically sound, No fatigue casting and reeling all day....That's important for an old man.

A smoke for $100 is a great deal imo. I have one in baitcasting and spinning and I've really liked them, plus that matte black finish is sick

I've been wanting one of these reels for a long time. Were they this price online? I'm on the site now and they are showing $159.
