Totally relaxed, but like you said in another post looking for info, pm me or post it up for the masses, the op has 379 views already, maybe you should pm him.

Remo is correct. PM's are the appropriate means to ask for a name. Asking on the main forum is not.

Who knows if the PM will get an answer from him. I usually trade info to get info and that'll work most of the time.

I think that picture was of his rod on the downrigger.[:|]

The only ugly thing about those pics was the lack of water and snow in the backgrounds.[Sad]

Yeah if the OP doesn't post the location of where he is fishing you cannot ask him for it per the utah rules.

Take a look and please familiarize yourself with them.

Seems kind of odd though if someone posts a picture of the lake they are already revealing the location to some extent....then a guy can't ask where he was fishing?

This is America I think you should have the right to ask someone what lake they were at.... publicly, on a forum. It should be up to the person if they want to share the location or not but why make it against the rules to ask?[Tongue]

The rule came about a few years back due to a problem with hotspotting at the time. Yes if a photo shows where a person is fishing, one still cannot blatantly give the name. If the OP chooses to do so via PM then it is their prerogative.

Which is one reason why this site has gone so far downhill.

Wow seemed like a pretty simple question to me that the poster didn't have to answer if he didn't care to. where do I sign up for the fishing forum etiquette course because things seem to be getting complicated.

These rules were all put in place at the request of members not the BFT mods, so please don't shoot the messenger. At the time, the original posters(OP) of threads, like this one, were getting harassed by other members for not revealing a location where they were fishing. If it were simply a matter of the Op not replying about the location they were fishing this would not be an issue but we found that it was getting to the point where members just quit posting all together. So my question goes out to you and others that what to know this location, would you rather have this rule in place and follow it or would you rather not even have the report at all? We loose members all the time because of issues like this, so we are just trying to get members to respect the rights of others by having these rules. Mods bring up the rules all the time so new member can learn from past mistakes others have made, I don't understand why that is a problem. I'd say most new members don't even know what the rules on the Utah board are, so it nothing else this is a good way for new members to find out what the rules say.

I appreciate the explanation. I guess it just amazes me that adults with common interests would harass each other for not posting a reply if someone didn't want to give away a special spot. It just seemed like a simple question that received no response from the original poster and that seemed like the end of it. I appreciate what the Moderators do. It's a job I don't want. I would imagine your job would be a lot easier if us big boys could just get along.

Yes you are correct but one thing I realized years ago, was that what you and I think is such an easy thing to figure out and do, others just don't see it the same way. We have come up with these different rules, as a way to make members happy, we also realize that we can never make every member happy all the time but we try our best.

I dont bother posting pictures on these sites if im not going to give everyone a report. Just seems like bragging. Ive caught plenty of big fish, when I want someone to see them you will know where they came from.

Wow didn't see that coming. I just thought I would share a nice picture at a lake. If anyone would have PM me I would have answered. I didn't know that a nice picture was bragging. Sorry if I upset everyone. I just thought others might enjoy the picture. Like I said fishing wasent anything special just a perfect morning.[fishon]
