No Fish?
#1
I recently bought a Humminbird 859CI HD DI. Last weekend i took it to Pineview to test it out and get it set up. I spent the day tuning and making changes to the settings trying to get them dialed in.

I have two questions. First is why did the depth flash from time to time and not on any particular depth. Second how come i never saw very few fish. I was at Pineview from 9:30 to 5. We worked all the docks, all around cemetery point, and around by the dam. I would stop every few min while out in the middle to scan for some fish and never saw anything. During the whole time was on the lake I only saw maybe a total of five to ten big arches on the bottom, and that was it.

Any Ideas why i didn't see any fish?

First make sure you up date the software
how deep was the water?
you will not see fish on top.
the DI will not work unless you are moving.
I think that the 859 CI only has the Sonar - Single Beam 200 kHz
the cone angle is not that wide.

if you had the 83 kHz you would have a lot wider cone angle

I thought this sonar has both. If it does not do you have a recommended unit that does. I need to stay In The 700$ price range. I don't want to spend that kind of money and have crap sonar. I don't see why that's even an option.
