I'm going to jail for over two years
#1
I just got a call from the IRS and they have found out that I defrauded them for the past four years. I owe them over $6,000 and if I don't pay them right now an officer will be by in 30 minutes to pick me up and haul me off to jail.

The foreign speaking IRS agent asked if it was my intent to defraud the IRS and I responded, yes, but I didn't think that I would get caught. He wasn't quite sure how to deal with that answer. He also wasn't sure how to deal with my reply that it was fine if they came by, in 30 minutes, and arrested me, because then I would have a free room and board.

Somehow I doubt that he realized he was talking to a CPA that knew all about his game. The Sad part is the number of people who have fallen for their lies. I read where one gullible person gave them over $500k.

You want free room and board also?

I'm on a roll. Also this week I got a call form Microsoft informing me that my computer was sending out viruses. A nice young man with a similar foreign accent, was willing to help me get rid of them, but after playing along with him for awhile I told him I wasn't interested in allowing them to infect my computer.

I got a call about clearing out my computer of viruses the other day, too. Considering I just had it done a couple weeks ago, by a local company, I declined.

Also this last month I've gotten several calls about my home and car... security systems, refinancing, repairs, etc. Even if it WAS a good deal, I don't own either one of those things LOL

The thing that really bugs me, is this was all on my cell phone. I thought they weren't allowed to call cells? Or did that change in the last couple years? Guess I need to go visit that do not call list site and sign up.

I don't think that being on the, do not call list works to good.

It won't work on calls like this because they're all located outside the US and they're already breaking the law with what they're doing, so why would they care about the DNC list?

I've received two of the calls in the last month. I told both of them that my wife handles the money and if they'll call her she'll be able to take care of it. Then I gave them the non-emergency dispatch number for Utah County. [angelic] I don't know if they called, but I'd love to have heard that conversation. [Smile]

Recently I received an email from PayPal saying something was wrong with my account. So instead of responding to the email I personally called PayPal and they said there was nothing wrong with my account and they requested a copy of the email. PayPal actually took care of the fraud. [cool] My credit cards had to be changed twice last year within a 6mo period. [Image: scaredworried.gif] My bank picked up on fraudulent charges in the eastern states. The second time it happened, the same day while I was in Salt Lake City making a couple of purchases, purchases were made buying cigars in a smoke shop in Texas and smoking them in a hotel room in Georgia. [shocked] And I was back home for dinner later that day. [unimpressed] I was wondering why I was feeling a little jetlag. [crazy] The bank will tell you those who commit fraud in this case will start out with small purchases to test the waters to see what they can get away with before moving on to the larger purchases. Unfortunately it puts me at an diSadvantage for a few days until I get my new card. [Image: angry.gif]
