Hey All,
My brother and I are headed down south chasing some bass! We will be camping at Sand Hollow Monday-Thursday. I checked the weather and it seems that there is a cold front blowing through there this weekend and the wind will be howling. Anywhere from 9 to upwards of 20mph, according to some reports.
I was just wondering if anybody with some more experience of the lake and conditions can give me any insights on what to expect this upcoming week based on the weather report. My brother and I disagree on the fishing conditions. I think the weather will affect the fishing negatively, and he says it won't have much of an effect.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

I think the wind is going to kill your fishing. I live ten minutes away and the wind has been the bane of my existence down here. You'll still catch a few, but not like you would be otherwise. I freaking hate wind.

I love it in the summer when it amps up the fish and you can nail them on cranks and spinnerbaits, but early in the year it either seems to kill the bite or make it very difficult to effectively fish the slower techniques that are typically more productive in the colder water temps.

Well I thought it time to report on our Sand Hollow trip...
Like I was worried about, the wind was pretty constant the entire trip, except of course for the last morning before we left for home (SLC). This made it difficult and uncomfortable to fish, but not impossible. Being shore anglers this trip, we fished the dikes nearly the entire time. Thanks to some great advice from other members I used a spinnerbait most of the time and it seemed to do the trick. I caught nearly half of my fish with the spinner. But honestly we used a bunch of different baits that seemed to work. I successfully used a jerkbait, crankbait, texas-rigged rage craw, and a weightless senko. And my brother used a carolina-rig, drop-shot, lipless crank, and whatever else. So like I said, difficult, but not impossible. And we even managed to get into some Crappie (my first Crappie, on a jerkbait no less).
Overall a great trip! I only fell on the rocks once, and we caught a bunch of bass. And again, thanks for the advice!
Oh, and since we were camping our phones were dead or nearly dead most of the time, so I apologize for no pics.
