#1
<" }}^ >< Ice Fishing Tip #29

I know you herd this a couple of hundred times now. Our avid anglers know what is meant when hearing this expression.

For the beginner I will explain in detail.

First, the word “Jig” is both a noun and a verb.

As a noun;
It represents a number of different styles of weighted hooks from lead heads with rubber critters attached or multi-colored heads with elaborate feathers and other various ornaments to just plain lead head with live bait, to miniature spoons soldered to hooks with led then painted with various colors and designs, to somewhat fish shaped spoons that come in a variety of sizes shapes and colors with bi-hooks or treble-hooks attached.

As a verb;
It represents an action of movement, lifting the pole up and down causing the rise and fall of the hook at the bottom of the line. “Hence Jigging” This is done to attract fish with the common action of different aquatic life that bob up and down during their life cycle.

So what is meant when you hear “Don’t Forget To Wiggle Your Jig”, it refers to jigging your jig from the above definitions combined.

http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/MESS6438/
Lookie See what the kids are up to.
Dave T.
