Berry from the shore?
#1
I'm thinking of heading up to Strawberry this weekend. Anyone fished from the shore recently? Are fish moving in yet?

I usually do very good during and shortly after ice off with dark colored jigs, such as maribou jigs and crawdad imitation soft plastics. The weather has been very bipolar and the early ice off may still have fish in a lull but i think you would still do fairly well if you are willing to move around to find them!

I have been told if you used the powerbait corn pellets off of Hawes point you can do really well. i generally am not a fan of powerbaiting it but i have been told they work wonders. i got some at Walmart just incase the trolling is too slow. here is a picture of the PB.

[:p]I fished Strawberry from my boat last Friday and the Friday before that. The water temperature is still sitting at 37 degrees. Caught three rainbows each trip. Did not catch any cutts. The fish are biting like they are in winter suspended animation. Exactly the way they were biting ice fishing in Jan., Feb and Mar. A float tuber came over to me. He commented about the water being 37 degrees and the fish are not active. He caught three rainbows and was headed home at 10:00am. to clean the horse barn. He said the temp needs to be in the 40's. I did see one cutt follow my power bait to the boat but would not touch it.

The fun day was two weeks ago. We actually watched half the lake "Ice Off" in three hours. We fished along the edge of the ice. We tried everything to get them to bite.

My father in law was up at Soldier Creek on Monday and caught around 30. 2 Koke and split between rainbow and cutts. One big 22 inch 7 lbs cutt all trolling with RMT. The fish are more active than people think, honestly just depends on what you use and what colors they are interested in during spring.. 30 fish with maybe 15 more that he didn't get to the boat.

I tried Haws Point Saturday with Powerbait and nothing was happening. Try Ladders on the other side lots of small fish if you are into that.
