Catfish hooks
#1
When dragging bait for catfish behind a small craft (tube, toon, or small kayak). What kind of hooks do you use? Circle or J-hooks? I've been meddling with circle hooks from the shore, but wasn't sure if they would work as well on a small craft. What do you use and why?

I use circle hooks on my pontoons. It took some getting used to. It is tough to watch the rod bend over then pick it up and reel.
I caught 57 catfish on my spring fling. I fished for them 2 full days and two half days. Ron

[#0000FF]A lot of cat chasers like circle hooks. I don't. Can't always rig them in different baits I use. And even playing it right...no hooksets...I still missed more fish than I do with Eagle Claw #84 ring eye hooks. The standard is bronze but you can buy versions in saltwater nickel or in red.

It is a subjective thing. You will find the hooks you prefer based on fishing conditions, size of average fish, size and type of bait, etc. There is no universal always works better hook.
