Just checked the stocking reports and it shows a couple weeks ago they put quite a bit of tiger trout in the lake and no splake last year they put tiger trout in there to does anyone no why? Are they going away with the splake and changing to tiger trout seems weird to me?

The hatcheries were only able to provide 20% of the desired quota of splake for Fish Lake last year. To make up the difference, they replaced the splake with tiger trout.
Lets hope that they can get back to a full quota on splake this upcoming year. Tasty splake for the grill are one of the main reasons I like to fish there so much.

The Tiger trout that were stocked recently were extra fish we had at our hatcheries. Because our splake numbers have been so low in recent years we felt these fish would help. This years splake look good and should be going in soon. Hope that helps

Won't the Tigers also spend more time in the shallows with the Perch than Splake do?
I thought Tigers were also part of the management strategy to bring down the Yellow Perch numbers.

I don't know, but I would assume not.
Perch have some spikey fins and splake don't seem to mind them in that lake.
Tiger trout are typically in places for chub control (soft fish)
That being said it might work.
