Decided to head out with a friend on the first cat-fishing excursion of the year last night. The bear river only had about three inches of visibility from all of the rain. Luckily, this did not prevent us from two really good cats to start the year. We had only been there about ten minutes when my friend had his first hook up, a nice thick eighteen inch cat. About forty five uneventful minutes went by and then I had my first. This one came in feeling about fifteen or sixteen inches, but when he surfaced, he was much bigger. He fought much harder after that, and I fought not to lose it on six pound test. He came in at 25 inches, (sorry for the blurry pic), and 6lbs 5oz. All in all a good first catch this season. After that it shut off completely, but still well worth it.
