I took the scouts out to a reservoir by Strawberry fishing for their camp out last month. We had seven boys on the trip, and I could not resist taking my boat. We trolled rapalas and boated 36 trout, and hooked at least 80. They had a blast. The best part is that each boy was able to take a limit of fish. The action at times was so fast it was incredible. One boy boated 3 fish in less than 2 minutes. It seemed like the moment the rapala hit the water a fish had it.
That trip was the first time I used any attractant. I don't know if that help the situation or not, but the fishing was definitely hot. The majority were rainbow trout in the 12 inch range and a cut that was in the 14 inch range. We trolled around 2 to 2.5 mph, and started at about 6 AM and finished up around 12:30 PM.
This will definitely be a trip the boys will remember for a long time.
