Fun Willard Morning
#1
Had a couple hours to burn this morning so we hit the bay! Fished for about an hour and a half and boated a few wipers and a crappie. Two of the wipers were long 21"+ but seemed quite skinny. Hopefully there was a good shad spawn to fatten them up!
Then, just to see if we could, went waterskiing behind the duckboat! Was a pretty fun redneck morning! lol

Hey, that is the best report yet! I lol'd when I saw the pic. Is that your wife in the camo? That totally makes the whole scene. The wipers do look thinner than earlier in the spring, have they spawned recently? I don't know when they do their thing. Did they have anything in their bellies?

Yeah, from what I have seen, they spawned 3 weeks to a month ago when everyone was catching them from shore on muscles. None I've caught lately have had any roe in them...

I always wanted to pull a skier behind my airboat and never found anyone willing to try.
Cool pic!

Careful, you've just crossed the line into the "Power Squadron “. You'll now be despised and spit upon for the rest of your days here on BFT. Don’t you know, if you enjoy water for anything other than fishing you need to keep it in the closet? There is no tolerance here for your alternative desires.

That is awesome, but you are the only person i have head of who has skis and a rope in your duck boat.[:p]

I have seen kids near my house skiing on an old sheet of plywood, using old bailing twine for a rope, and being pulled by an atv running along the ditchbank. These kids proudly claim to be rednecks as well.

Haha, now that's some redneck fun right there, I don't care who you are!

I was thinking the same thing last night about my wife when I came home and she is in a pink camo shirt and my camo boxers. Gotta love it!

Hope that rope was plenty long........that mud motor can really reach out and touch you if you ain't careful. But ya' know, I spent 13 years in south Georgia, seen lots of those flat bottom skiffs in the shallow rivers and swamp areas. But you get out behind one of those down there and you soon become gator bait.......[pirate]

Lucky man you are to have a wife willing to do crazy stuff like that.

We were there also from 10-3 and did very well on the Walleyes and did manage a few wipers. I am noticing the shad balls showing up on the sonar now. Better get out there before the fishing shuts off!

Lol! As you can see in the pic, there are no boats anywhere near us! I will never be one of those douche bags who throws a 5' wake into a 12' aluminum fishing boat or pull a wake boarder right over your trolling lines! Besides, fishing is ALWAYS my top priority on the water...

I am pretty sure that Wipers dont spawn.. They do get full of eggs but the eggs look real nasty. I hope they fatten up for the fall fishing.... nice pics

You’re correct in thinking they don’t spawn in the sense of reproduction. But they still go through the full spawning motions of producing both eggs and milt and crashing the shorelines for a good time. [sly]
