which fish finder?
#1
which finder would you pick up in the 300 dollar range? My dad is looking to purchase one. He will be trolling and vertical jigging and might want to do some ice fishing with it as well... I don't know much about fish finders but he has been leaning towards lowrance. Thanks for any help or tips.

This is my portable unit and I have to say it works good so far. and with the built in navionics maps app you have a full blown 2d fish finder and gps plotter that also makes maps of the area your fishing in real time. I put it on my kickboat and am very happy so far. Picks up fish and jigs under the boat easy. The only thing you need to think about is battery time on your phone or tablet I have purchased a battery pack I plug in and now can go all day. If your on a boat you can plug a charger right into the tablet or phone using a cigarette lighter charger.
I am not sure about the ice fishing season as I just got it but don't see why it wouldn't work ice fishing. also everyone can connect to it at once. watch the videos and see for yourself.

Read the reviews at the bottom of the page. I can't see why anyone would choose a different finder. this thing is sweet.

And if you want Maps for tracking, routes or even Live bottom contour map making right on your phone or tablet go here.

I personally like Garmin products. Last year when I got a fishing boat I went with the Garmin 550 C and added the speed sensor. It has been very reliable and puts me right on the fish and gives me a reliable speed for trolling. When jigging I can see the smallest jigs and the settings are really easy to use.

Now they have the Garmin 551dv V, which has more features than mine. On Amazon it runs right around $290. Or you can go with a smaller finder that Garmin makes.

For ice fishing, I use a Vexilar flasher.

Looks like a nice finder for the price. loved the down scan on my raytheon. But he will need a battery for ice fishing if he goes this route. it can be done really easy though.

appreciate the replies. He's been leaning towards the elite 4 and elite 5 right now from lowrance.
