Squid ?

I have heard a rumor that some two pound plus squid have been getting caught off the Newport pier. Yesterday at around one in the afternoon. Is it season for the to be in that close to shore, and close enough to the surface to be seen at that time of day ? Has any body else heard of any being caught as of lately ?

they were right outside of the LA lighthouse the other day..i wouldnt be surprised.

havent heard any reports from peirs though.
