Ririe walleye.....and perch!
#1
Fun article on eastidahonews.com by Bill about the Walleye population in Ririe. But the perch in the photos look great too! If we get some ice up there this year it'll be interesting to see if anyone pulls a walleye out.

That is an interesting article. Pretty amazing with all the hours I've spent looking at the fish with a fish camera I haven't seen any yet.

Agreed... pretty neat article. I am anxious to see the actual complete study published to see the full picture...

Those little eyes look to be from the same year class perhaps 2 years old??? They appear to be getting some recruitment, but apparently not enough for the population to take off... Perch look to be doing quite well though. I was lucky enough to be able to "sample" some a few times this fall with some real productive outings!

I do not condone or support in any way, the illegal introduction of any species (land or water)... but again, I sure think it would be nice to not have to drive all the way to Oneida, Oakley or SFCR to catch some walleyes! Beyond that, some crappie in the area would be pretty darn nice, too! [Wink]

I wonder when ice fishing starts out there? Interesting regulation on fishing within 1 mile of dam? I can't be reading that right.

Yes you are reading it right . 1 mile of the resivior is all that is open to fishing . Ririe is the last lake in the area to freeze . Last year it only had ice for a week .
