Any info on the fishing tournament at scofield this year. I haven't been able to find any info on it at all. Wondering if it is happening this year.

The Burbot Bash and the Fish Lake Perch jerkin' tournament are both scheduled, but no word on the Chub Party. Seemed kinda pointless to have a contest where Rainbows were the fish being measured and scored and there aren't any Rainbows left.

I'd rather go there and be given the chance to buy a few pounds of rotenone and pour it into an icehole.

Fishing is slow. Some anglers report catching as many chubs as trout, while others report that the catch depends on your location. In general, most of the trout will be nine to 14 inches with a smaller number inside the slot limit. A late fall gillnetting survey found fish that exceed the slot limit — including several six- to seven-pound cutthroat — but they are a small minority of the reservoir's fish population.

No mention of any big Tiger Trout.

I agree. While I saw the trophy anglers point when it was kicking out some bigguns, it looks like even the trophy fishery is petering out and the lake offers little of interest to anyone else, except a place to catch chubs for use at Strawberry. []

Also, just think how much money could have been saved if they treated the lake at it's current level of 13% of capacity.

On November 7, creel survey technician Mike Ault interviewed an angler at Scofield Reservoir who caught a 9.5-inch tiger trout using chubs as bait. This is the largest tiger trout that Mike has recorded since early spring. Although they're rarely caught, the fish verifies that there are big trout in the reservoir.

That was the DWR report from earlier. I really hope they meant 29.5" or at least 19.5".

Scofield has historically been one of the top two or three most productive and popular fisheries in the state. I would be curious to see how many visitors the State Park had this year. Everything that I've heard says it was a very slow year at Scofield. And that's been the case for the last couple of years. I can't see any logic in prolonging the agony for the sake of a few fish. Poison it. Rehabilitate it. Get it back to where tens of thousands of people are using it as a fishery every month.
