Sounds like a lot of fun, but I got ta ask, Why didn't you fish big blue???? I wanted a fresh white fish report..... Did you just take your ice gear? I've been wanting to get back to Bear Lake so bad, I'm sure if I went that far I would have been on the big pond, unless it was too rough.... But it did sound like you had lots of action so can't complain about that... Thanks for the pix's I've heard of a couple of those spots and never seen what they actually look like... Too much hassle hauling the boat up with poor road conditions and I don't fish from that rocky shore much. We were just hoping to hit a few places where we could ice some fish and we did not bring any other gear. That was the first time I've fished either pond there at Bear lake. Neither lake was deeper than 6 or 7 ft at the most but we did not move much because we did so good at the first spots we drilled. Can't really remember when the catching was that fast for trout.

Hey Mike, were you there yesterday, saw a guy drive up in a fire truck while we were there?
It is open water where that pipe brings it in and open at the aerator. We walked up the little trail and straight out onto the ice and drilled a test hole, it was only two ft deep there, so we moved about 10 yds toward the pipe and it was 5 or 6 ft there and the fish were biting constantly while were were there. We were about 30 yds from the open water. Water is very clear, you can easily see to the bottom.

Ya, that was me. I saw you guys ,but because of that open hole by the aerator I didn't think you were on the ice. I thought you were just casting out to it. Silly me!
There is a trench that runs roughly north to south from one side to the other and it goes just to the east of the aerator bouy. It's about 5 feet deeper than the rest of the pond on that end. The fish end up there as the water gets lower. It can be fun when they are in that trench.
