Great read. Bill Schiess is the dean of fly fishing in Idaho and the best fisherman this state has ever seen. His writing style is absolutely marvelous. His words about the old gray haired men their wisdom and willingness to help another fisherman is just like him. He is an absolute legend and represents everything that is great about this
website. [signature]

Bill is a great guy! I've been meaning to ice fish Ririe for a long time but it never seems to work out for me.

You've been missing out this year if you like to catch kokes. I've been doing real well if you don't mind catching 10-12 inchers. This week was especially good. Need to use pink skirted jigs with flasher spoons attached above them. Red corn seems to help.
Thursday a friend and I got blown off the lake at 10 am. Otherwise its been real good. The only thing I would warn about is that the crowds get big on the weekends and parking gets to be a problem. Last Saturday people were getting stuck with their four wheel drives. Hope you get out. [signature]

last wed they were just running up next to the ramp with no problem. when i left wed i noticed the water was showing on the edges but not a problem.you can use a folding ramp off the end of the ramp to. we used pink and white glo jigs like swedish pimples and did very well.some were dead sticking with a flasher and corn 18 inches below and did well .fish at 15 to30 feet . lots of dinks!

i would use the pimple just because i have them . but any thing that is pink or shines or glows should work. they have been catching perch by the island out from the rampand in shallow water . can't tell you how many they just said they caught some.

Today we went after perch on a mud flat. Found them in 40' of water. The bite was good for about an hour. We caught 17 then it shut off like a light switch around 11:00am. We caught three trout and three kokes as well but we weren't looking for them.

I was out there on Monday also. Stood in 3-4 inches of slush, had 8 schools on the screen and only got 6 bumps. Fished in 80 FOW , no kokes all day (8hrs).
Kokes are definately on the slow side. Hope for some cold weather tp freeze the slush. I'll be out again on Thursday. [signature]

it sure was a slushy mess monday.was there from ten till four ,wind was cold! we had five or six schools go by but they were deep and fast! the finder would lite up from sixty to forty ,no hits and they were gone.at 3:30 a school came in from sixty to twenty and we got four.what was funny was i dropped a line down to 55ft with a koke jig and started catching perch ,they were up to nine inches.you wouldn't see them on the screen often but drop a jig dowm and they were all over it.just hard to hook that deep. we will give it a try thursday[fishon]
