FG reciprocal licence?
#1
Am getting some mixed information.

If I buy a utah licence and a wyoming reciprocal licence for fg, do I need to buy a wy conversation stamp/licence?

Thanks all.

No, only the $10 stamp. Just be aware the reciprocal stamp is good only for Flaming Gorge, not any other waters in Wyoming.

Here's the information that I have found.

-Utah proclamation says the I need a reciprocal licence to fish the wyoming side of FG, nothing else.
-Every utah resident by word of mouth says you only need the reciprocal licence.
-when trying to purchase the reciprocal from https://wgfd.wyo.gov/elso/ELSOWelcome2.aspx I get a message that a wyoming sportsman's stamp is required to fish wyoming.
-wyoming proclamation (see attached phito) leads me to believe that I need the sportsman's stamp.
-called wyoming dnr, and they said I have to have a sportsman's stamp.
-called utah dnr, they had no idea.

Just want to get the word out to utah residents if it is required.
I'd hate to see fines imposed on utah residents because of vague/poor communication between Ut and Wy dnr.

I think it's BS that you are required to have any licenses at all if you are going after only Burbot! We are improving the fishery for both states at FG by killing these invasive non-game fish. You don't need a hunting license to shoot the invasive (tasty) Eurasian Dove. Why should you be required to buy a UT fishing license, WY license, and a conservation stamp to kill Burbot?

First of all it is only $10. People spend that on fast food or gas station food in heading to the Wyoming side.

Second it is a better option that having to fork the $14 per day or the $92 annual.

The ten dollar stamp goes to the fishing in Wyoming, programs that benefit Kokanee, Rainbows, etc

If you don't like fishing the Wyoming side, you can fish the Utah side all you want.

The idea of not having a license to fish is an interesting one. I do not know how you would enforce such an idea. I have caught macs and rainbows while fishing for burbot, which if it was legal to fish for burbot and I was fishing for burbot would be illegal to catch those species incidentally, because that would be fishing for them as a result of you catching them.

An interesting note about Burbot. East of the continental divide in Wyoming they are considered a game fish with a limit of only 3 in most places. Even with the catch and kill regulation Flaming Gorge is probably one of the better places to catch them. It is really interesting that in some places this big mean ferocious invasive predator is not doing well (They actually a figured to be extinct in England) and in the case of flaming gorge there is no way to get rid of them even with catch and kill regulations.

I just went out and went through the purchase process and you do not need to purchase anything else if purchasing the reciprocal stamp

You come to the Screen that says:

Add 2016 Conservation Stamp to Cart
Already have Conservation Stamp - Continue
Do Not Need - Continue
Exit

Just select the -> Do Not Need - Continue (3rd Option)

and the app is ready to take you $$$.

Thanks or the response.

I am curious though, has anyone been checked by the WY DWR had any issues with only having the reciprocal?

I may have hit reply to wrong person but my question is how far up is the reciprocal stamp good for. Does the Gorge start at the confluence or is the Lost Dog or Firehole areas still considered part of Flaming Gorge. How far up the Green River before I am no longer fishing the Gorge and need a Wyoming License.

You only need the Reciprocal. If you went to a vendor or even the WGFD office in Green River, WY to purchase a Reciprocal for your license, that is exactly what they would sell you and not the Conservation Stamp. It's only a default error on the website, so just select the option "Do not need". If you need further assurance, contact WGFD at 307-875-3223 and ask for Sheila. Good luck.

It's for the reservoir and that ends where the rivers (current) begin. Not sure exactly where it is due to lake elevation, but the Green River is still quite a ways above Firehole. Lost Dog and the Confluence are basically the same area and well within the boundaries of the reservoir about 7-miles below Firehole. Good luck, Ryno

I was out there 2 weeks ago with only a reciprocal licence. The warden came by and checked our licences and didn't have any issues that we didn't have the conservation stamp. Of coarse, we didn't ask him about the conservation stamp.
