I fished it for a couple hours Friday afternoon. The perch bite is still on in Rabbit Gulch and other places. A lot of nice rainbows and a few browns are also being caught.

Thanks
I heard on Saturday you needed a plank to access, because the water level was rising. [signature]

Any updates on the south side of the bridge? Ice thickness and possibly needing a plank their as well to step on?

We fished Rabbit Gulch from about 9am until after 2 on Saturday and the edges were solid as could be. No water at all. There were quite a few people there but everyone seemed to be catching at least some. Most were very small though. We brought about 10 of the bigger ones home to eat.
The catching seemed pretty consistent all day except from 11am to 12pm. It seemed to be a ghost town for that one hour. I did see two other groups catch one rainbow a piece... [signature]

I fished Knight Hollow on Tuesday with a friend. It appears they may have shut down the inflow from the canal into Knight Hollow as there was no water coming down the spillway. The edges were all frozen solid and there was no problem getting on or off the ice. The ice was 12 to 14 inches thick where we were fishing.
We got some perch up to 9 inches and several RBT, including one 21.5" beauty in full colors. She was released to thrill another angler. [signature]

Brother in law and I fished rabbit gulch today, Wednesday. You could see where along the edges of the ice a ring that I would think is the newer ice from the filling levels. However today the edges never softened and held fine. Temps didn't get very warm either though but we had no issue getting off late in the afternoon after having been out the whole day. We fished further into the western end then other fishermen that were out today fished. Not sure how the others did but we found fish in 13'-15' FOW just off the bottom. Only hooked up perch today... but that's more then fine for us. We only kept about about 2 dozen eater sized and send back a lot more. Bite was really light and the noodle tip or spring bobber really helped see the bite, but if you were not johnny on the spot you would miss the hook set. We jigged with waxies, spikes, gulp, and perch eyes. They all did well but the perch eyes seemed to get more aggressive hits.

I fished bunny gulch today. I also fished south of the bridge. Both locations had thick ice and firm edges. Fishing was less than stellar. Did not catch a fish until I was fishing in 40 ft of water. Only two small perch and one small brown. Tough fishing for me at least.

We're hoping to get out there Saturday if the roads are cleared and we're mainly after the big rainbow. Are you guys catching them better in shallower water or suspended over deeper water?

Sorry it took awhile to reply but I was in SLC for a medical visit.
The rainbows in Starvation are most often caught while fishing in the deeper waters. I've found them most often suspended at 12 to 18 feet in water that is 28 to 34 feet deep. If you use your electronics, you will often see them come through while you're fishing on the bottom for perch. Our most recent trip to Knight Hollow produced some RBT that were cruising around at about 10 to 16 feet while we were getting some perch on the bottom of the 28 to 32 foot depth. Hopes this helps.
