Cascade Day 3
#1
[#800000]The weather gods did NOT Smile on us today: snow, wind, low pressure. And the perch had a very bad case of lock jaw. Tried over 20 combinations and good not entice a bite. Well, okay, one bite. A 9 incher. No porn on that as you are all well aware of what a 9" perch looks like.

Heading home tomorrow with more snow forecast for tonight and all day tomorrow. It was a GREAT trip with never before imagined hawg perch caught, sharing the adventure with great people, eating some great food, and talk about the next adventure back up here. [/#800000]

Yep it was an awesome trip Mama Nature tossed us a huge curve ball. But well worth it for the chance to hit it outta the park. We did okay went to a Kay and RowdyFish location...pulled out total for our group about 15 fish largest was a 15". Those honors go to the Birch Glen owner Mike who has never ice fished we broke him in as he caught 3 nice fish with the 15" being the largest...great memories with awesome folks and wonderful Birch Glen staff!!!

Yep every day we fished a new location on our pre planned coordinates. Did well considering ice conditions and weather. We caught very nice Perch. Including many PB especially partners 15.50" 2.32#. Many fish WyoGuy caught just shy of 15"...fishing wasn't fast and furious very different and very finicky bite....

Bob,

Thanks for the report. I'm planning an "all in" multi-day trip to Cascade for sometime in February. Any info you're willing to share would be greatly appreciated and kept quiet, of course. Smile

Sounds like an awesome trip for hog sized perch. Even if it wasnt fast and furious the chance at 14 + inch perch makes it worthwhile. Glad you found a few big ones. Thanks for the reports.

Glad the group had fun and got into a bunch of fish! I ran into packfan in the parking lot Friday night and possibly a few others I didn't get a chance to ask their names at the snowmobile shop. Wish I could have met all the group out there but I guess there's always next time right??? Anyway we had a fantastic trip. Countless hours of studying maps helped us out a bit and of course electronics and Lady Luck. We were on big fish most of the trip. My personal best way broke many times over before we left with the biggest @ 16" and 2.64 lbs. if I hadn't waited 27 hrs to get it weighed could have came pretty close to that state record. Missed it by 9/100ths of a lb I do believe. Great trip and great memories with a fish for the wall to boot.

[#800000]Friday night, Packfan was the last of our group off the ice. The rest of us were gone by 4:30 as we generally quit about 3. Gail likes to stay late. Also, I noticed from your first picture that you experienced that awesome slush monster as well. [frown][/#800000]

[#800000]Weather permitting, our bunch will be back up there around the 10th or 11th of February. Since my wedding anniversary is the 11th, I'll wisely delay my departure until the 12th. [Wink][/#800000]

Yep, that was me you guys met at the repair shop, and you were just leaving the parking lot as we arrived there. Looks like you had a good day. I caught a lot of nice fish, but nothing like your hog!

Thank you! It looks like you beat your personal best as well so congrats to you! I think I'll be migrating that way again in the next 2-3 weeks to try and help that record fall.

Wow that is a hog, it was good shooting the breeze with you as the wife and I were loading up the other night. We had a great trip for our first trip up to the lake ice fishing, it is such a beautiful place especially with all the new snow n the pines. Small world when you are 400 miles away from home and find out you live just down the road from us. I ended up catching my largest perch that measured 15 1/4 in. and the wife beat her old record with a 14 3/4 in. Hope to see you guys some place on the ice again this winter.

I forgot to thank Fred and Joe for helping the wife and I find some fish the first day we were on the ice, they were very friendly and a pleasure to chat with. I hope to return the favor this summer at Starvation. Thanks again guys. [fishon]
