Fish Lake Friday
#1
Went to Fish Lake on Friday snowing or not, not one of the better judgment calls. It took 6 hours to get there in the bad snowy driving conditions.
Only one other tent out on the ice. Headed out drilled a few hole looking for 25 fow. Set up and dropped a line and bam fish on, caught 6 perch and a splake in 7 drops Oh boy what a great day of catching this is going to be I thought. Suddenly a huge gust of wind caved the side of my tent. Went outside and tied it all down started fishing again and nadda no bites for quite sometime. Managed a few more trout and perch then Woosh! more wind OMG! grab Toto and find Dorthy and head for the cellar. The two corners holding the anchors were ripped completely off the sides were caving in despite being tied down. Time to get outta there. Must have been 60+ mph winds we managed to hurry and pack our gear and get going. I am a big guy 300 lbs and the wind almost blew me over more than once, the snow was blowing so hard it was like getting sand blasted. Then about half way to the parking lot
Guardian angels[angelic] riding four wheelers swooped in and rescued us making several trips to pick us and our gear up, braving the elements to help us. THANK YOU!!!
Packed up the truck happy to be warm and safe we headed for home. A couple of miles down the road the snow had drifted bad enough for three trucks to get stuck. Many hands chipped in and dug them out the best they could and moved to the side of the road to make room for snow plows. The road was unpassable. UDOT was called. Didn't take long about an hour for them to get there and plow the road. It was an interesting adventure to say the least. I believe the next time I will pay more attention to the weather and plan accordingly. Working on getting video and pictures posted.

Welcome to the Evil side of Fish Lake. I have never experienced it before, but I have heard stories. When she want to get you off the lake she will. I always watch the weather when going to fish lake. But at least you caught some fish and had some what of a good time(s). Hopefully she'll be nice to you next time.....[cool]
