Cascade Conditions
#1
I've gotten a couple PMs from folks on Cascade. Here's the latest conditions.

Lots of snow on the ice and lots of slush. Wheelers (unless you have tracks) will not work even with sleds most in out group had issues at times. Wider tracked sleds faired better.

Saw on another forum that some have ventured out on ice and spent hours trying to get their wheelers dug out.

Ticket is to move your sled away from where you're fishing and move during the day don't let it sit in one spot all day especially by your holes.

Unless that area gets a deep freeze to lock it up its not going to get any better... North portion of lake has the most snow and slush. We ventured down stonebreaker road on sleds our last day and went out from the sugarloaf boat ramp 1.5 miles had the pucker factor when we drilled our first hole only 5" of ice a 2" froze slush crust and about 3" of snow but it snowed and additional 3" in this area while we were on ice. This area and south portion don't nearly have the slush/snow as the north Poison Creek areas do. However they are getting snow and it snowed every day we were there and forecast unfortunately is for warmer temps and more white stuff...

Maybe others who ventured to Cascade will also provide info...but IMHO WHEELERS will not make it...you'll need a sled if you venture to Cascade for the trip of a lifetime to catch HUGE PERCH!!!

Here's a video I just did up with GoPro on head strap...yes will be jerky and I was making sure folks behind me were okay.

I'd try and use previous sled trails but they were getting used so much there were areas with huge slush pockets on trail so I'd venture off. Watching the video you'll be able to make that out. This was the first day and the last day we saw the blue sky when we were there.

For another perspective on ice/snow/slush conditions here's a pic of WyoGuy's Perch plus shows the conditions...
