Bear Lake 1-23-2016
#1
Headed to Bear Lake today to dip some cisco. Got that taken care of in about an hour and then headed over to the southwest end for some jigging. Picked up several nice fish. The one in the pictures was the biggest. Sent it back to the bottom for another day. I didn't expect the fish to be hungry today, but the bite was pretty good.

On the way home it looked like most of the open water south of Garden City had frozen, but it looked thin with spots of open water still. The ice I was on north of the rest stop was 5 inches of clear ice with about an inch of cloudy stuff and 2 inches of snow. It looked to me like there were a few spots where the holes haven't been freezing up, and the ice can get rotten around those, so be careful of those dark spots.

Wow that's a nice one, all the trout I seen at Cisco had so many Cisco in them that tails were still sticking out of their mouths. They weren't very interested in my offering. Glad you found some still eating. Did you notice if the crowds around you were catching many fish? maybe you went somewhere else besides that big group we seen on the ice as we were headed home. Anyway congrats on a pretty fish. Later J

Two of the fish I caught had cisco sticking out of their mouths. The guys next to me caught a nice lake trout that was comparable to the one I caught. They caught a couple of smaller ones too. I saw probably three or four other fish caught by other groups, but its tough to keep track of what everyone is doing. I've definitely seen a lot tougher days out there with no fish!
