Had a great time up at Tibble Fork on Sunday. I took a friend of mine who hadn't fished in 8 years and had never been ice fishing. I figured Tibble was the best place to get his blood pumping and I was right. Although the fish are typically smaller, the action was fast and furious for about 2 and a half hours. From 8:30 to 11am. We probably landed around 40 fish between the two of use and lost a bunch here and there along the way. The mix of fish was probably 60% browns and 40% rainbows. Fishing absolutely shut down around 1130 so we packed it in and headed home for lunch.
Great day on the lake for sure, and a great place to introduce the young and old to the sport of ice fishing.
The ice was about 4 inches of soft slushy ice. We tried to enter by the damn but the edges are still too soft there. Come in from the North side and you shouldn't have any issues. Seems like small ice flies tipped with half a millie maybe 8-10 feet below the ice worked best. If you dont get a bite in the first 30 seconds, change your bait/depth.
