Steck Park boat ramp

Anybody used the Steck Park boat ramp? I want to fish Brownlee here in the next few days and will be launching a 21' bowrider. I would hate to drive in there and find out I cant launch from there.. i usually go to woodhead, but I want to fish around the cemetary.

Huntington may be your best option, I'm not sure about the ramp at steck..
I heard earlier reports this spring of 10"-12" crappie at or very near Woodhead , Just throwing it out there..
coming from a very reliable source. I fished a lot by steck, spring bar ramp and never got much bigger than 10" last fall. Stay to the left or right of the ramp at Huntington,spring bar, there was a big rut in the middle last fall.. hope this helps!

I answered my own questions about launchng at Steck today. With the present water level, you can launch a 21' boat, but it isnt for the faint of heart. Both sets of my trailer wheels dropped off the end of the boat ramp, but not so much that the trailer bottomed out. There was enough cross river current that it was tricky getting the boat back on the trailer, especially when I lost one of my side bunks on the way there and had to be careful not to scratch the side of my boat. Also my boat trailer winch strap broke on the way there. I was able to tie it back on to get it home.
Fishing was SLOW. Fished about 1/2 way between Steck and the Cemetary. Found a group of boats and caught a total of 20 crappie for the afternoon. A few boats around me were doing a little better but not a lot. You had to have the right color jig. It was even slow using cut bait and trying maggots.

Bummer about your boat problems. Glad you made it back okay.

The fishing wasn't too bad on Saturday. I brought home 31 over 9 inches and left the lake by 1 PM. I didn't count how many I threw back, but I know that I only kept 1 out of my first 4. Size did improve a bit once I got onto the school but I still threw back a fair number.

Were you fishing deep? Most of my fish were caught at 20 plus with some at 30.
