Has anybody ever fished right by the dam at Scofield? Every time I go to Scofield I always see at least one person fishing right on the dam (open water) or right next to it (ice fishing). I was just wondering how the fishing is there and if it's any better than anywhere else.

Howdy fishluvr. I always seem to see at least one person there too. Never personally fished there. I know that there are several dikes that span the channel leading to the dam. When the water gets low these areas are like land locked ponds that don't open up to the main body of the reservoir. Because of this it never really appealed to me.

I fished through the ice by the dam this year, and didn't do too well. It was a very slow fishing day. I wouldn't fish there again.

I've fished down there a few times and had some good days. I usually don't take a fish finder, but I just set up along the steep banks about 25-50 yards away from the dam, and I've done alright. But, there's lot of good places you can go on Scofield.

That is my favorite place to fish Scofield. I had two good trips there in December. All the usual techniques. usual range of sizes caught. The pressure there seems far less than other locations which may help, since it is not particularly deep and the fish might easily be spooked with a convention overhead. It did seem to matter if you were near the channel (Good) this winter compared to the periphery.

I've got some good sized rainbows trolling down toward the dam.
