Rookie at pineview

Was at Pineview all day and not one bite. Anybody having any luck?? I'm a rookie so all I had on me was a luer. I'll be going back tomorrow with some worms I guess, new to fishing so learning as I do. I was told drop rigs or something like that work, I'm gonna have to YouTube it because a luer is all I know how to use on my pole ha-ha.

The only I've been able to find at pineview have been crappie, and unfortunately I haven't seen any action from them yet this year...did you happen to notice if the carp were spawning?

If the crappie are spawning try fishing by the trees that are currently in the water. Put on a bubble and a tube jig with a piece of worm. Put the jig 4 feet below the bubble and reel in slowly.

My experience is that I only catch fish at PV from just before dawn until about 10:00 AM. The reason for this is the boaters. The last time I fished it on soft water was last fall, and the trip-ending occurrence was some genius who was taking a slow lap around the wakeless area in the narrows with his sound system cranked up so high it was creating ripples in the water around the boat as he literally cruised around the entirety of the boatable water from the buoys at the mouth to the buoys at the dam, twice. In the open area the jet boats will kick up wake that will throw waves a couple feet high onto the shore. Things like this happen literally every time I go to Pineview. That said, fishing before the power squadron stumbles out mid-morning is very good. I'm yet to try night fishing there, but who knows, maybe that's great too.

What you want to try for crappie from the shore is a green and orange curly tail grub on a 1/8 ounce jig head. Cast and retrieve past submerged brush. For bass, find a shore line near a drop off so you can cast into water at least 5-6', for this time of year anyway. I catch bass there on rapalas, but a lot of people do good on a texas-rigged senko.

What Pookiebar said. Within the next couple days all the flooded brush should be chock full of crappie. Bubble, small jig and a float tube will keep you busy. I fish crappies with 10-12 lb line there. Much heavier than you need, but on more than a few occasions we've landed tigers on crappie rigs.

Plus with heavy line you can often get the jig back out when you snag the brush.

It's bad enough that people run laps back and forth next to you making it difficult to fish, but when they try to force the entire lake to listen to their garbage music that just pushes me over the edge. Why is that crap tolerated? I'd like to see their boats sunk on the spot, but I'd settle for them being ticketed. []

I'm not really looking forward to the warm weather.
