Well , had a Wizard kind of day. He always had bad luck on the water. Started out, the outboard would not start. So we started the morning on the trolling motor. Ran trolling motor all the way around to the cove behind the picnic tables, caught a dinky little spotted bass on a crank bait, then we got to the cove and watched another boater catch one on a square bill. We followed him up with a shakey head work and Gaige caught one around 1.75 lbs. In the live well it went. TrI'd outboard again and it started, hooray !!!! Ran out to the channel area, and tried to fish the ledge a little, had to go back to dock, outboard fired up and we ran back to dock, left motor idling for about 10 minutes, when we started to leave, put it in gear and it died, started back up, put in gear, it died... and never started again the rest of the day. So we spent the day on the trolling motor, of course we trolled out to the mouth of HBSP, and we should have stayed around the docks. So about 1:20 pm we started towards the ramp, got close to the dock and the trolling motor was not shutting off when foot removed from the switch... on top of all that, I backlashed about 20 TIMES TODAY. Even had to change reels and then had to restring the reel... all in all, had a fun day. From my family to all who fished, and the cff committee, thank you for you kindness and generosity with the donation. I am proud to have you all as friends and proud to be a member of such a great community of fishing friends. So you next time and I hope it is soon.
