Was just wondering if any of you fishn nutz was able to brave the cold and get out on "the deer" lately. Is the walleye action good through the ice and where do you drill in to drop line and rip some lips?

I was there on the shore last Saturday for a scout campout. There were a lot of people out on the ice Sat. morning at Rainbow Bay and at Island Park. Didn't get a chance to talk to anybody to see how they did though.

I just got back (1-28). I fished around the island. Ice was 5-8 inches and clear. I started due north of the island in about 12-15 ft. of water. Had a good trout bite from 10-12:00. I then went out to try to find some walleye and perch in deeper water. Used jigging minnows tipped with nightcrawlers. No luck there, so I went back and caught some more trout. Left at 3 pm. Action was on a finkeee below a flasher jig, both tipped with wax worms. All of the trout biting were suspended at about the 6-8 ft level below the ice. NO action on the bottom all day. Size was impressive, ranging from 13-18 inches and FAT. All footballs. Sorry that I couldn't solve the walleyes, but I'm probably not the angler to do that.
