Strawberry on June 9

[#800000]I started my quest for the elusive kokanee salmon on Soldier Creek with lines in the water at about 7 AM. Conditions were absolutely perfect for trolling.[/#800000]

[#800000]The water temp was 58, give or take, and my lines were set at 12 & 15 feet deep and out 50 feet from the boat. First hit came at about 7:30. He weighed in at 2.1 lbs and 18 inches.[/#800000]

[#800000]The second fish brought to the boat was a very chunky 16 inch rainbow - no tag. Immediately released. [/#800000]

[#800000]The next three fish were kokanee and they were all about 1.5 lbs and they were all put on ice. I was done at a few minutes past 9:30 AM.[/#800000]

Great post Bob, it just doesn't get much better than that. Love the pics.

Thanks for the report. I like the addition of the the spin-n-glow. I bought some and rigged them up specifically for kokanee...I just haven't had a change to try them yet. I just remembered some people up in Alaska catching sockeye on spin-n-glows and I thought that their land-locked buddies might find them enticing too. Glad to know they work.

Thanks for posting Bob, the Mrs. and I are headed up next weekend for 4 days of fishing, hopefully we can find some nice Kokes I'm ready for some fresh caught salmon on the grill. We will be in Loop B at the Strawberry camp ground. Take care and have a great summer.

I would love to smoke some Kokes. Too far away from me in Vegas to go up there to catch 'em only to smoke them. What I bring back is for the frying pan/whatever the wife wants to do with.

Thanks for the report [Wink]

[#800000]Always - Gulp Alive pink. Also, I hit the lure with a dab of Mike's Kokanee Glo Scent.[/#800000]

Similar to the technique I use but I pour the sent right in the bottle of Gulp Maggots when I buy them, makes the buggers a little slippery to handle but you don't get the stuff all over the boat, I also think it swells the little buggers up so they are a little larger, anyway works for me. Also works well for ice fishing. [fishon]
