#1
if you have bass pro shops 2004 anglers catalog look on page 74 top right corner there is a pvc rod holder that would be easy to make at home

Hey Aqua, Someone that had an early ice post at rockport had one of those in his trip pictures. Several people inquired and he gave a detailed post on how he made it. Maybe he'll see this and re-post his plans. I'd like to make one too. [Smile]

I'm not sure what the holder at bass pro looks like, but I remember the one made by wando in his rockport post. Looked pretty cool.

I would say about 12-15 feet of 1 1/4 PVC pipe and you would be on way.

That looks fairly easy to make, it looks like 1" pvc, I wonder if 3/4" pvc would work. I guess as long as the rod butt fits in the bottom then it should work. Thanks for posting the picture Teroy and telling us about it Chris. WH2

I was at IFG's house over the weekend and he was making some rod holders for his snowmobile. Most of his rods and mine included would not fit in 1" PVC. You can probably make the rest of the stand in 1", but where the rods actually slip in will more than likely have to be 1 1\4"

I copied this idea and made one of these the other day. I modified it a bit so I could leave my reel attached to my rod and just clamped my rod to a piece of 1 inch pvc that I cut in half. I pinched one end of the pvc with pliers and forced it into a 3/4" fitting. It holds really well and I don't have to mess around wtih taking a rod apart and if I want to take my rod off the stand while I am fishing I still can.

Thanks for the idea whoever posted it the first time. I copied the pictures and then had some fun with it. I am going to make one out of 1/2" pvc to make it a little smaller and lighter. I'll let you know when I'm done and I'll take a picture of them just for fun.

Do you have any problems with the rod holder falling over when you get a really good fish biting?? I would love to have a fish on the line big enough to give me some serious problems with this rod holder.
