I was thinking same thing. I would use re-chargable batteries. Energizer has some good ones that last a long time. This looks perfect for me and other tubers, kayak'ers, and people who rent boats and different lakes and/or ocean.

I HAVE AN EAGLE FISHFINDER THAT HAS A SIMMILAR SUCTION CUP MOUNT, AND IT WORKS GREAT FOR ICE FISHING. I DRILLED A HOLE IN THE CENTER OF A BUCKET LID (WHO DOESN'T NEED A BUCKET TO SIT ON ANYWAY) AND PUT A 1/4-20 BOLT DOWN THROUGH IT AND THEN DRILLED A HOLE IN THE TOP LIP OF THE TRANSDUCER BRACKET TO PUT ANOTHER 1/4-20 BOLT UP THROUGH IT. (IF YOU ARE ANTICIPATING THICK ICE YOU COULD USE A PIECE OF ALL THREAD) THEN I JUST USE A LONG NUT TO LINK THE TWO PIECES TOGETHER (AT FIRST I JUST HAD A FRIEND WELD A COUPLE OF REGULAR NUTS TOGETHER, BUT THEM I WENT TO THE HARDWARE STORE AND BOUGHT A LONG NUT FOR $.26) IF YOU DON'T DRILL THE HOLE IN THE LID TO BIG THEN YOU WON'T HAVE TOO MUCH TROUBLE GETTING THE TRANSDUCER TO LEVEL OUT, AND YOU CAN JUST LEAVE THE SUCTION CUP ON THERE (YOU MAY HAVE TO TAKE THE SUCTION CUP OFF TO GET THE BOLT THROUGH THE BRACKET THE FIRST TIME.) i HAVE FOUND THIS TO WORK THE BEST OF ANYTHING I HAVE TRIED. I HOPE HIS HELPS IF YOU DO BUY ONE OF THESE.

[size 2]I was thinking same thing rather suction cup for my pontoon. I have a metal frame so I would drill hole, use long screw with larger washer and attach transducer to that. By using a wingnut it will be easy to take on and off[][/size]

I cut the mounting bracket off of my transducer and stuffed it between the cover and the bladder, facing down. It works, but now I'm having difficulty figuring out how to rig it for ice fishing.
