Kokanee on lead core line

I have only one downrigger. I have 4 trolling poles set up with lead core, but haven't caught many kokanee on them. How do you set up using lead core for kokanee's. I've heard that lead core drops 6-8' per color, but I still have a hard time catching them. I've also tried using a snubber, but still didn't have much success. They always hit the downrigger for me.

Run the same set ups but make sure you have 10 feet or more fluoro or mono 10 lb between the lead and lure. If they are deep add a banana weight 1 oz right at the lead before the mono.

im no expert but i think your calculation on the depth per color may be off a little, pretty sure its closer to 5 feet per color ( this may vary depending on brand) . u probably just need to run more line out on the leadcore setups. im usually running lead 6-8 colors when hunting Kokes.

I run a pair of Cabelas DM30 reels on Whuppin stick ML rods with Suffix lead core line and 50 feet of mono. My last trip to the gorge we didn't lose a single koke that stayed on from the initial hit and made it to the boat, on the 2nd evening we were there the 4 of us had our limits in under 2 hours and had to stop fishing. As for the downriggers on that same trip we only caught 2 kokes in 2 days. After using them for the first time this year with great results I am a firm believer in lead core setups.

I'll be honest in telling you that it takes a bit of practice working the mono inside the sheath, even more so when the boat is rocking, but I have not had a knot come undone or break on me yet.

I use the same knot but have never pretied the sheath rather just coiled the mono and tied the knot after pulling the mono bundle through

What are yall thoughts of clip on weights to use for trolling for kokanee? I was watching KSL outdoors this weekend and they had a setup like that. Believe it was regular mono line, let it out 50 ft, clip on 1oz-3oz weight then let it out another 50 ft. They seemed to be skating fish with that setup. Think that would be a nice and cheap setup since I won't have to buy another reel for leadcore.

I do mine the same way, not really sure why someone would pre-tie the knot.

I use both, depending on where I'm fishing but not at the same time[].
