Glendale, Lamont To Be Closed
#1
Well, Consolidated Canal Company did it. As of August 1, they will close Glendale and Lamont. I don't totally blame the canal company, the State of Idaho is just so damn tight with their money that they will not support the public and help out with a little money for the public of Idaho who pay so much into the Sticker fund, that they just care about themselves. Hopefully, enough pressure can be put on the legislature and agency that next year this will be a non issue.

One of the best probably the best pan fish fisheries in East Idaho. Sad to see it go and all because of an issue that is a non-issue for this area.

The article says closed to motorized. Is a tube or yak OK?

I'm assuming foster and johnson are closing too?

Don't worry all the skiers are going to burley. Snails in the snake!

That is a great question. But, I suspect that what is meant closed to anything that they required an inspection on before. I will try to find an answer to that and post up.

It did specifically say motorized a couple of times. I'm crossing my fingers.

I got this reply from Franklin Soil & Water today:

I can live with that.

I went to Winder yesterday and the water level is way low. I'm afraid of what might happen if it keeps getting drained like it has. I believe it was September when it got this low last year.

We did have unseasonably high water last year from all the spring rains. I haven't been there for two weeks though so I'd have to see how low it is to compare it to previous years. Here is how low it was this time in 2013.

Hopefully they don't drain it. Sounds like things are going to cool off a little so hopefully that will slow things down.

I checked out Winder today. Looks like it's dropped a good 12-15' in the past 3.5 weeks since I was last there. Pretty low, I hope they slow down a little. I'd hate to lose another fishery.
