We havent been fishing in a few weeks bc i have to work so much, so we decided to take advantage of my day off & hit the lake this morning. We got on the water right at sunrise and went to an area that i had never fished before. Started off really good catching a bunch of small bass. Kept seeing a big catfish come up close to us and my girlfriend said she would love to catch a big catfish. Well it wasnt long before she got her wish. We were fishing a drop off close to a rock bank and i hear her say its a big one. I turn around and see her line heading up the lake like she had hooked a bulldozer. I turned the boat around and started running it down with the trolling motor. After about a 20 minute fight we finally got the 27.46lb catfish in the boat. I dont normally bring catfish on the boat bc i hate the smell and slime, but i had to make an exception for that one. She was extactic about catching it, especially considering she was throwing the ned rig on a medium action rod with 8lb florocarbon. After weighing it and some pictures we let it go. Went back to fishing and caught several more bass. No huge bass today, biggest was about 2.5lbs, but we had a great morning fishing. Caught fish in 2-15fow on ned rig, shakey head, & jig.
