New lures worked at Willard
#1
[#800000]Went out to Willard Wednesday to test some new tackle. I was testing a Rapala JSR4 (Firetiger) and a Mac's Smile Blade Slow Death (Green Sparkle). The JSR 4 produced a 3lb, 3oz wiper. The Mac's SBSD produced a 3lb, 4oz & 3lb, 1 oz wiper. All fish came off downrigger set to about 1 foot off the bottom and trolled at 1.5 mph, 50 feet behind the boat. All came while trolling east to west along the north dike and no more than 50 feet off the bank. Fun day and took home all 3 for dinner. Life is good.[/#800000]

[#800000]They weren't out on Wednesday. In fact, they haven't been out in any great numbers on any of my 5 trips over the last 10 days.[/#800000]

So how did you like the Slow Death rig ?? I have been wanting to get up to Deer Creek and try them on the walleye, but other things have taken precedent. I have also been having difficulty in finding the hooks. I found some Matzauo at Scheel's, but have been looking for the Mustad Super Death hooks, neither Cabela's or Sportsman's have them. Were you using crawlers or plastic on them ???

I bought some at Angler's Den just today.[/#800000]
