Cisco Dip nets
#1
[red] Ok guys, I know I'm going to to get beatup on this but I have to ask. What does a Cisco net look like. I have tried to find one, (yeah right) and I don't even know what I'm looking for if I saw one. So what I'm asking for is HHHEEELLLPPPP.[/red]

AFDan52, Cisco are a very small fish so a normal net will let them slip through the holes in it. So, a cisco net has very small holes. The net material can be made out of stainless mesh or nylon fibers or whatever they make normal nets out of. I think Pugstone's in Garden City still had a few but the said to call before you come to make sure. Here is their website http://www.fishingbearlake.com/

The day I went cisco fishing at Bear Lake the cisco were thick enough that some people were just using regular nets and letting the smaller fish fall through.

[red] I don't think that I am going to go after any Cico as I am thinking that the run is pretty much over I 've just never seen a Cisco net to know what I am looking for.[/red]

I found it on Cabelas website. Here is the link

http://www.cabelas.com/information/Fishing/CumingsWireSmeltNet.html

Most of the time you have to look for them under Smelt nets.

Dan, Uintah sporting store, the one that moved in after Anglers Inn closed, had some the other day but they were a little pricy, someone said Sportsmens had them also. The cisco were still running yesterday, so if you made it up there today or tomorrow I think you could still get some. Good luck. WH2

I've been here, I just haven't posted a report in a while but I reply to other people's post daily. Did you decide to wait until next year to go cisco fishing? WH2

There was a good show about the cisco run at Bear Lake last nigt on the Doug Miller show. I taped it and you are welcome to check it out. If you've never been, it was good and interesting info. Heck, it was fun to watch even if you arn't new to cisco fishing.

AFDan52, Just a thought, that net on Cabelas website only had a 5' handle. There are net out there that have expandable handles that go out to 10-12'. This year the 5' would have been just right. Another year you might be in a boat or deeper water and would need a longer handle!
