Mantua? Ice or no ice?
#1
Does anybody know what the conditions of Mantua are? Thinking about going up there today but not sure if there is safe ice or ice at all for that matter. Any info would be great, thanks! Yeah

The report further down on this page says it's "ugly."

I drove up last night to have a look. The ice is rotten and not safe. The inlet is still open.

Is he fishing the Open Water by the inlet? If so I may just run into him. I'll probably be pulling up to the reservoir in about 45 minutes

My dog and I took a stroll from the south bathroom parking area to the knoll. I didn't see anywhere I would want to get on the ice on the east side. Two guys were fishing out from the boat ramp as I was leaving about 3 pm.

That was me and my buddy! We ended up doing pretty well. My buddy Wilson caught 5 trout. One of the five was a really nice size. I managed to get one to the hole before he decided to spit my ice fly out and swim off. The ice was a solid 3.5-4 inches of solid ice with a thin layer of frozen slush on top. Overall we had an awesome evening! I have a feeling this ice season is going to be a productive one.
